Huntington Public Library Adult Reading Challenge

  This is a non-fiction written by a paleoanthropologist who discovers that there are 32 common geometric symbols found in Ice Age rock art throughout Europe. She suggests that the universality of these symbols demonstrates a unification of early human consciousness and in how we communicate through graphic symbols. Her book proves that humans have had some form of writing system for over 100,000 thousand years. The author is not only a brilliant anthropologist but a gifted writer. I felt as though I were exploring ancient caves right alongside her. Her research and well-crafted writing illuminated the mysteries of our paleolithic ancestors, who often traveled deep into narrow crevices of caves to make their mark. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in our deep history.
