 Great read. Murder investigation with plot twists that you don't see coming.

  Suspenseful, sultry story about a girl who’s past has given her the thirst for killing, hides herself away in her apartment only to be drawn out to help save another

  I found this book on a reading display and figured why not. It was a really good read. Story about a struggling actress and her life. nicely written and has a "who done it" type story.

  This book is the first suspense novel written by this author, who then went on to write over 50 more books! It is also my first read of her work and certainly won't be my last! I have already begun to read the sequel, Where Are The Children Now. Ms. Clark is known as the "Queen" of suspense novels and this book is a perfect example of that. It is fast paced, with many twists and turns, certainly keeping the reader on edge, and is a book that is hard to put down. The story follows a woman, Nancy Harmon, who is suspected of having something to do with the disappearance of her two young children. Her past comes in to play as she was charged in the murder of her two children from her first marriage several years prior. I don't want to say much more, other than her nightmare is beginning all over, and will leave the rest for another reader to discover!

  One of Stephen King’s more recent thrillers, it was a book I couldn’t not put down until I read it through to the end. A modern day sci-fi thriller with so much action, it felt like a movie was playing in my head with the way King was able to fill the pages. It revolves around a smart twelve year old boy who has special powers. The boy is taken from his life, kidnapped and placed in this institute with children alike with the same abilities. The interchanging point of views of all the children and their journey and trauma of being held in this institute is remarkable. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in a thrilling action sci-fi book!

  What would you do to save your child’s life? What if they weren’t even born yet? 9 months that usually have their own set of stresses for a new mother are compounded in this story that will keep you guessing, month by month.

  Too-modern for a stream of consciousness novel, almost: you lose the interesting pieces of the coming of age, the quirky characters, the sparsely populated rural island, the mystery of an atomic bomb in what is purposely impenetrable writing. I'd love to read a retelling of this. Perhaps it also pales in comparison to the other rural Georgia island life novel I read recently, The Stars Are Not Yet Bells, which is just so beautiful and engrossing. I am sure someone will like this! Not for me.

  I LOVED this book. It was written differently than other suspense books I've read and kept me hooked the whole time. All the past story lines come together in the end and play such a great role in wrapping the book up. It gave me "Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" vibes with the mystery and boss woman vibes! The main character "Evie Porter" works for a company under "Mr. Smith" where she changes her identity and has different cases/missions to complete.

 Billionaire's only child (son) is murdered on his honeymoon. Father hires suspended FBI agent (John O'Hara) to find the serial killer. But John ends up being stalked by his "own" serial killer. Sarah Brubaker (FBI agent) is assigned to John's case and the excitement unfolds!

  A great book for a long rainy day because I didn’t want to put it down to do anything else…even when the rain stopped. Great character development and interesting twists.

  This book was a little bit confusing at first as it keeps going back and forth with time periods but in the end it all comes together. I couldn't put this book down and it kept making me want to read more and more. The end was very unexpected which made the book even more fun to read! Lucca is the star of the book and she goes through multiple identities as she is assigned multiple jobs from her boss Mr. Smith . It is basically a game as if you she will pass the test or not. The consequences could even involve death, so try to keep up! An exciting thrilling and anticipating novel..

While I felt some of the writing of this book was a bit cliche, I was quickly drawn in by the plot! This mystery was suspenseful yet was so heartfelt. I was rooting so hard for the main characters and the ending was perfect.  

  As one of Stephen King's first attempts at a crime/mystery/thriller genre book, I would say that King's style speaks for itself. I am a thriller genre enthusiast and think that Mr. Mercedes was a great read. The cat/ mouse game between the protagonist, retired Detective Hodges and Brady, the boy responsible for all the murders is one of the more thrilling relationships I have read in Stephen King's books. The reader is gets a switch off between both Hodges point of view and Brady's point of view as the story unfolds on the Detective starting to lose his mind trying to track down who the Mercedes killer is. Not only does Stephen King paint the antagonist as a young adult boy with malicious intent but also creates a character that the reader cannot help but feel empathetic towards.   A group of kids on spring break at Key West are having a blast! Until one of them doesn't. That is the beginning of the end for her, or is it? A life altering event occurs and the story continues.

  This was a who done it ...fun and the bad guy gets it in the end

  Fast paced thriller, jumps between past and present. A girl goes missing and is never found, 30 years later 2 bodies show up where she initially went missing, reopening interest in her case. There are a lot of twists and turns, and complex familial relationships. I couldn't put this one down, and just wanted to get to the end to figure it all out.

  This is Bohjalian's newest novel; it's much like a mystery: who killed the hotel owners? who killed the "princess's" new boyfriend? who are all these crypto currency bigwigs? This book is told in three voices: Crissy, her sister Betsy, and Marisa, Betsy's newly adopted 13 year old. I found the "voices" quite authentic, even in the artificial atmosphere of Las Vegas. I do miss the Vermont settings of many of Bohjalian's books.

Scary and scarier...Nate and Joe separately get pulled into a jihadist-type plot to disable all electronic hubs in the USA. The lab & factory is in the Red Desert. The leaders use volunteer scientists and street kids as workers, including Joe's daughter Sheridan. Murders galore & gory.
