Dream Angus: The Celtic God of Dreams by Alexander McCall-Smith

This was a quick fun book about the Celtic God, Angus. Having known nothing about Celtic mythology, I enjoyed this book because mythology of all cultures is fascinating to me. McCall, with his usual wit and charm, combined the myth story of Angus with modern small vignettes to good effect. This allows for the book to feel like a complete novella and also a collection of short stories all at once. Very enjoyable and quick read.

Lila by Marilynne Robinson

I loved this book--Lila is a wonderful character. Having read "Gilead" and "Home" already, I love what this book added to the stories in both of those. I was moved several times during the book. I also enjoyed the surprising romance of it.
