The Bodyguard by Katherine Center

This book was everything I love about cheesy made-for-tv romcoms, but in word form. Hannah Brooks is an Executive Protection Agent (aka bodyguard) who is put on an assignment to protect movie star Jack Stapleton, but in order to do so she must pretend to be his girlfriend. She has his back, but he has her heart. This book was a fun read that had me laughing out loud multiple times, and I fell in love with both of the characters and was rooting for them the entire time. I’d definitely recommend this one!

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford

Deep sad story of a Chinese boy and Japanese girl in Seattle during WWII and their young love, jazz, friendship and coming of age when Kako has to go to an internment camp. Thank goodness it ends well with a reunion in later years. This book was bitter and sweet, but well written and impassioned.
