Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton
Birnam Wood centers of the 20-something year old members of an environmental activist group that seeks to fight capitalism and environmental devastation by planting on unused land, public or private. Their lives intersect with a local landowner and an elusive American billionaire that has just made a deal for land rights on protected land. As the story takes us into each character's thinking, it moves at breathtaking speed and manages to tackle several current issues such as environmentalism, intersectionality, and politics.
