Lost Birds by Anne Hillerman

Lost Birds refers to the disappearance of Indigenous women and girls. This has been happening in Canada and also in the USA when women and young women just vanish from their neighborhoods. In this mystery by Anne Hillerman, who continues the series started by her father Tony Hillerman, a young woman dis missing, but that's only one of three or four threads. All of the Hillerman books take place in the Four Corners area of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. Much of the area is contained in reservations and there's often a conflict between Navaho Tribal Police Officers, the various state police, and the FBI. As each book appears, there are updates on the characters we've known--Leaphorn, Largo, Chee, Bernie.
