To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Yes, this is a book I should have read a long time ago. I am almost 40 and experiencing Scout for the first time. What a character! Her sass, tough attitude, and innocent view of the world instantly makes her such a beloved character. It is also difficult not to love Atticus, her quiet, observant and wise father. His empathy, moral compass, and courage in the face of socioeconomic and racial injustice in the Deep South in the 1930's offers hope and a ray of light in an otherwise heart-wrenching story of America's ugly history. I can see why this is considered one of the most beloved stories of all time. I definitely recommend reading.
